History of Burnt Bridge

In the early 1900s, a forest fire burned down the logging road bridge that crossed just east of the current bar. During prohibition, lumberjacks and town folk would use the phrase “Meet at the Burnt Bridge” to gather there to socialize and drink, which at the time was illegal moonshine.

After prohibition was repealed, Fred LaMason built a log cabin not far from that bridge where people could gather and drink, legally. That building is now the current dining room of Burnt Bridge Tavern and Restaurant.

In September of 2021, we celebrated our 100 years of operation.  During the past year, we updated the tavern with an outdoor bar and some landscaping updates.

Nestled in the tall pine trees and crystal clear lakes of northern Wisconsin, Burnt Bridge continues to be the gathering place for hunters, fishermen, and family vacationers. The rustic charm of the log cabin, hearty drinks, tasty food, and wild animals (both inside and out) keep people coming back again and again.

Stop in and enjoy the experience at BB.
